Baby Got Backlist is a column in support of older titles that I feel should still be getting love and attention. Before we go any farther, there is something you need to know: This book is no longer in print. WHICH SHOULD BE A CRIME. Because this book is soooooooo wonderful. I can't believe it came out nineteen years ago. I stumbled upon it in the now-closed Stroudwater Books, and it caught my eye because it has a Malamute on the cover, and we had a Malamute when I was a kid (R.I.P. Kajo) so I was intrigued. In case you hadn't heard, I love books. LOVE THEM. But snow or no snow, I want to tell you about one of my favorite winter reads: The Brief History of the Dead by Kevin Brockmeier. This is a perfect book for snowstorms! The main character is … [Read more...]

This past weekend, I participated in the 24 in 48 Readathon. It's where you attempt to give 24 of the weekend's 48 hours over to reading. You may be saying to yourself, "Liberty, how is this any different than any other day for you?" And the answer is "It's not." I LOVE READING, Y'ALL! But for readathon purposes, here's the breakdown of my reading. SATURDAY 12am - 1:45am: Read Grief Is the Thing with Feathers by Max Porter. Started The Relic Master by Christopher Buckley. ACCIDENTAL SLEEP INTERLUDE 3am - 5:15am: Finished The Relic Master by Christopher … [Read more...]
